After the success of our collaborative ‘Broken Heart Skate Decks’ with contemporary artist CopyRight, I have created my first solo designed deck.
This original piece is now available from my online store at gemmacompton.co.uk
This will be the 3rd year I have taken part in the ArtRepublic Art Yard Sale in Brighton. Every year a selection of contemporary artists sell their wares at one day only prices, a chance to meet the makers and take something away. This years line up includes myself and the other half CopyRight, along with Ben Eine, Eelus, Sarah Pope and Pure Evil.

I will be selling original artworks starting at £90 – I have created another collection of ‘Tile’ canvases that SOLD OUT at last years event as well as a new double print edition, ‘Fox’ and ‘Fawn’ that will be exclusive to the event.
Come down to Jubilee Square in central Brighton from 11-5pm on Sunday. Come and say hello and support your favourite artists.
Over the last few months I have been working closely with the Mercure Hotel Group, designing and last week finally completing my commissioned mural for the redesign of one of their hotels ‘The Grand’ in central Bristol. The beautiful Victorian building has had an interior revamp to showcase local artists and interior designers/makers from across the West Country. My large mural has been installed in the foyer of the hotel and will greet the guests at reception. The official opening of the refurbishment is in a couple of weeks but here is a sneak peek of all the hard work.
My newest edition ‘Tiled’ is now available on my web shop. Based on a series of mini canvases I created last year. The print is a 60x60cm gilcee with torn edges and hand finished gold leaf detail. This is a small edition of only 25 only at gemmacompton.co.uk
Looking back at some of the achievements of last year one of the things that excited me the most was seeing my artwork in print, especially as a cover image of an amazing local magazine. Bristol Life is a monthly publication showcasing all the great things that go on in our amazing city, especially celebrating artist, makers and independent businesses within Bristol. If has been a real confidence boost to read such lovely things about my work and I was even asked to sign copies for people at the Upfest Festival back in the summer. I am really grateful and humbled by every opportunity my artwork has given me and I hope this will be the start of seeing my art in print!
After failing at keeping up with my blog posts in the past I am gonna try my hardest to update this baby as frequently as I can, keeping you up to date with news of my latest artworks and projects. Fingers crossed!!! 🙂
